A Linux administrator is a back-end IT specialist who installs, configures and maintains Linux operating systems. Job responsibilities may include installing and configuring Linux systems including back-end databases and scripts, performing system maintenance by reviewing error logs and creating system backups. They also monitor system performance to prevent slowdowns and crashes and provide technical support and maintain system security.
